We launched SAKHRANI based on a single conviction: that Okinawa possesses something rare and unique that remains unknown to the world of whiskey. No one ever imagined that authentic whiskey would emerge from Yanbaru—let alone that it would be brought to life by two women. But that is precisely why we created it. One was born here, and the other chose this land as her home. Sabrina spent over twenty years in the worlds of finance and market research. Rome, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong—after living in various cities, she finally arrived in Okinawa. That was twenty-seven years ago. It was her husband’s hometown and the island where her children were born. That was Okinawa for Sabrina. Ayako Ikehara, born in Yanbaru, grew up in a family of distillers spanning five generations. Her father held one firm belief: “Authentic whiskey can be made right here.” There is a World Heritage-listed forest and its water. She had known this instinctively since childhood. As a mother, she creates for the next generation. At the same time, she never forgets to honor the generation before. In their own ways, her two fathers shaped the spirit of this distillery.
